Description
Bethel was contracted by the United States Air Force to provide and install a pre-packaged wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis (JBSA-Camp Bullis) in San Antonio, Texas. The work included design, development, and engineering of construction documents and materials, labor, and equipment. The WWTP design included multiple, above grade, modular, activated sludge package plants which were designed to discharge into existing holding ponds used for landscape irrigation. The capacity of the WWTP was sized for a maximum flow of 160,000 gallons per day (GPD) plus 50% redundancy. Three 80,000 GPD package plants were installed in parallel to achieve this capacity while allowing for switching flows as required for backup and maintenance. This system was installed so that each package plant has its own clarifier. The new modular above ground lift station was installed over the exiting wet well with a new weight supportive wet well grate cover.
In addition to the WWTP installation, Bethel constructed a new Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) building with a standing seam metal roof. The project required decommissioning and replacement of an existing bar screen apparatus and removal of an existing grit-remover device from head works.
Prior to initiating ground work, Bethel prepared a work plan, a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), an Environmental Protection Plan, an Accident Prevention Plan, and a Contractor Quality Control Plan.
