Description
There are approximately 205 existing petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs) on the Yokota Air Base (AB) Inventory of Storage Tanks. Twelve (12) of these tanks were previously determined to require upgrade/modification in order to meet the spill and leak prevention requirements in the current Japan Environmental Governing Standards (JEGS).
Bethel was selected by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to provide engineering services to conduct a field survey to validate the identified deficiencies of the 12 ASTs at the Yokota AB and Tama annex area and to provide the required system corrective actions/upgrades in order to meet the requirements of the current JEGS and other applicable regulations. An onsite survey was conducted by Bethel in December 2015. The survey results supported the previous decisions to upgrade or replace tanks with one exception for replacement instead of upgrade and various additional recommendations. Bethel carried out additional corrective actions in summer 2016.
